This is the first collection in a new series I am working on called Heavenly Creatures. I love beauty, colour, light, pretty things and flowers. And this is what I am drawn to and it’s part of the reason I love weddings. There’s nothing more appealing than amazing light falling on a pretty girl’s face. With this series I aim to create images that are artistic, whimsical, soft and beautiful.
This session blew me away. I photographed Rhiannon at the Australian Centre for Photography. Rhiannon is a dancer and her presence in front of the camera was unbelievable.
My aim with this set of images was to produce something that evokes a softness, a romance, an old-world feel. I love fine art, and for this shoot I was inspired by the paintings of the Dutch Masters…think Rembrandt and Vermeer, and also the Italian master Caravaggio. I made the flower crown the night before, not knowing if it would look the part, but I think it all came together beautifully.
