“Sonja we can’t thank you enough! The photos are so beautiful. We’ve had such a great time reliving the day and get to do it again every time we show our friends! It’s going to be hard to choose which ones to frame! Thanks again for being such a positive presence on the day, we are so happy to have had you involved.”

Wow, what a day. I had an amazing start to 2019 with Marcie and Mark’s intimate and relaxed backyard wedding.
These two held one of the most chilled weddings I’ve had the pleasure to document. What I loved the most was that every single detail of their day had so much meaning, from the backyard venue and so many personal touches, to Mark’s beautiful artwork that featured throughout the reception set-up.
I met Marcie and Mark a couple of years ago when Marcie modelled for a styled shoot I photographed. Marcie was a dream to work with and so when they asked me to document their wedding day I was quite ecstatic.
The ceremony was so touching and it was lovely seeing these two surrounded by close family and friends who were completely present in the moment, not a phone or camera in sight – this is magical to witness. After the ceremony we spent some time taking relaxed portraits and I even found one of my favourite backdrops to photograph these two in front of, a pink oleander tree. The reception was beautiful, guests sat together at long tables chatting under the beautifully lit marquee. I found out during the speeches that Mark is a huge cat lover – this immediately put a massive smile on my face because I love cats too.
Marcie and Mark, I can’t thank you guys enough for sharing your day with me, for being so wonderful to be around and for giving me absolute creative freedom to document your big day. x
