When Jonna got in touch with me and told me about her and Martijn’s Sydney elopement, I just knew I had to be there. Jonna and Martijn’s story began many years ago when as uni students they met in Sydney, having come from different parts of Europe on study exchange, Jonna all the way from Finland and Martijn from the Netherlands. I loved listening to their story, my heart melted a little when I heard their plan to tie the knot in the city where they first met and fell in love.
We started the day at The Rocks and then walked to the Opera House for some magical photos with the Sydney icon in the background. To incorporate as much of Sydney into the day as we could, we caught a ferry to Blues Point Reserve for the ceremony. After waiting for a small storm to pass, the ceremony started and it was really beautiful and touching, there were definitely a few tears.
The day finished off with a sunset which was an absolutely perfect ending. A ferry back across the Harbour topped off the day, the city lights sparkling as we pulled up to Circular Quay.
The day was simply amazing. I can’t thank these two enough for allowing me to enter their lives for the day and to be by their side on a day they will remember forever. Jonna and Martijn, I wish you both all the very best for your future adventures and I hope to see you again one day.
