Sofia & Andrew
OBSERVATORY HILL & ALPHA SYDNEY
“Thank you so much for being part of our special day!!! Your sweet and relaxed nature made us feel so at ease, we didn't get any of those nervous trembling smiles that we mentioned during our first meeting haha. Seeing these photos brings back all the memories!! Thank you for capturing our day so beautifully, we will look back at these photos and always be reminded of your friendliness. Lots of love, Sofia & Andrew”
Sofia and Andrew's wedding was one of those perfect spring days in Sydney. Sofia spent the morning getting ready at The Langham, one of my favourite hotels to photograph, before making her way to Observatory Hill for a late afternoon ceremony beneath the beautiful old fig trees.
When Sofia first got in touch, she told me they wanted the day to feel like a celebration from beginning to end, with everyone on the dance floor early. She also said she loved that my photographs felt real and in the moment rather than posed, which was exactly the atmosphere they created throughout the day.
After the ceremony, we stayed around Observatory Hill for most of their portraits. It's one of my favourite places in Sydney because you have the best of both worlds - beautiful greenery alongside timeless views of the Harbour Bridge. On a sunny spring afternoon, it was the perfect setting before everyone made their way into the city for the evening celebrations.
The reception at Beta Bar (now Alpha Sydney) had such a wonderful energy, but one of the most memorable parts of the evening was the traditional Korean Pyebaek ceremony. Wearing traditional hanbok, Sofia and Andrew honoured their families through a series of symbolic rituals, including deep bows, sharing tea and receiving blessings from their parents. It was a beautiful way to celebrate Sofia's Korean heritage and bring both families together as part of the wedding day.
