The Art Gallery of NSW is a beautiful setting for a wedding, and what I love most about photographing here is the variety of the spaces.

I love the contrast between the grand interiors of the Gallery and the simplicity of the outdoor steps overlooking the Domain. The steps are perfect for those timeless, classic portraits, while inside there are endless possibilities for something a little more atmospheric and unexpected.

I’ve been lucky enough to photograph weddings at the Art Gallery of NSW, both with receptions in the Art Gallery Restaurant. It's a beautiful, light-filled space that can be styled in completely different ways depending on the couple and the feeling they want for their day.

A recent wedding I photographed at the Art Gallery had the guests seated facing the Grand Courts and the 19th-century artworks. It was an extraordinary setting for a wedding ceremony - the art becoming part of the experience rather than simply a backdrop.

One of my favourite things about photographing a wedding here is what happens later in the day. Once the Gallery has closed to visitors, the couple and I can wander through the Grand Courts together and make photographs amongst the classical art. There's something very special about having those enormous spaces almost to ourselves - the scale of the architecture, the paintings, the quietness of the Gallery, and the two of you moving through it all.

The combination of the art, architecture and light gives you photographs that feel timeless, while still being unmistakably connected to the Art Gallery itself.

If you’re planning a wedding at the Art Gallery of NSW I would love to chat with you and learn more about your vision and what you’re planning for your day.

I am also happy to share with you full wedding galleries so you can get a sense of how I capture an entire wedding day at the Art Gallery of NSW.
