A Considered Approach To Wedding Photography
Natural moments captured beautifully.
My approach combines the honesty of documentary photography with the refinement of an artist’s eye.
The most meaningful photographs happen naturally - a spontaneous moment between two people, a genuine laugh, the way your dress moves in the breeze. But these moments also deserve beautiful light, thoughtful composition and a sense of artistry.
A photograph can be candid and beautiful at the same time, emotional and at the same time composed well, spontaneous but also artistic.
I create images that capture the real you and your wedding day in a beautiful and considered way.
No posing or performing for the camera.
Most couples I work with don’t want to spend their wedding day posing for the camera, nor would I ever want them to.
My approach focuses on gentle direction and guidance. You might walk together, share a quiet moment, take in the view or simply enjoy being together. I will guide you to beautiful light and I will allow space for natural moments to happen. The result is images that feel effortless while still being refined and intentional.
I adapt my shooting style to you as a couple - some couples are very affectionate while others are more reserved - it is my job to make your time in front of the camera relaxed, comfortable and enjoyable. After having photographed hundreds of weddings, I instinctively know how to make couples feel comfortable in my presence.
Minimal time away from your guests.
Your wedding is one of those days when so many people you love come together in the one place and I want to honour that and give you time and space to spend as much time as possible with your loved ones.
The couples I work with do want beautiful photographs of their wedding and portraits they can frame and hang on their walls. But they also want to enjoy the cocktail hour with their guests and immerse themselves in the day they spent so long planning.
And with more than a decade of real wedding experience behind me, I know how to balance the two. I am able to create beautiful portraits without whisking you away for hours.
Light, atmosphere & place.
Light and atmosphere are at the heart of my work.
For as long as I can remember I have been absolutely fascinated with light and how it can tell a story, transform an ordinary scene into something beautiful and bring a sense of feeling to a photograph.
I love soft natural light but I also love bright sunshine. And I’m also quite fond of the mood created by an overcast sky. The artist in me sees light as a way to tell a story. I embrace whatever the weather brings, using the light, atmosphere and changing conditions to add feeling to your photographs.
Architecture and landscape are also big parts of my work. Weddings happen in all sorts of beautiful places and buildings and it’s my job to beautifully capture the sense of a place. You have chosen your venue for a reason and it deserves to be photographed with the same sense of artistry I bring to the rest of your day.
My work is suited to Sydney’s architectural and historically significant venues, manicured country estates and wineries - spaces anchored in natural light, stone, history and gardens.
Your final gallery - a collection of photographs that are thoughtfully edited and curated.
The final gallery I deliver to you is a carefully curated and considered story of your day.
The artist in me is very particular about colour grading, composition and the feeling an image conveys.
I select and personally edit all your photographs, with attention given to each individual image. Your wedding gallery will be a cohesive collection of your wedding day story, all images seamlessly flowing from one to the next.
I create photographs with the intention that they will be printed, hung on walls and cherished for a lifetime.
