Jelena and Jackson's wedding at Watersedge Campbell’s Stores brought together everything they had hoped for: a relaxed celebration with elegant touches, surrounded by the people they love, in one of Sydney's most iconic harbour locations.

When they first got in touch with me, they told me they wanted a wedding that felt elegant without being over the top. More than anything, they wanted everyone to have a great time and photographs that would help them relive the moments long after the day was over. That really resonated with me, because it's exactly how I hope my photographs are experienced years later.

Having become engaged in Positano, they brought a little piece of Italy into the reception. Lemons were woven through the table styling and guests were welcomed with limoncello, a simple but thoughtful nod to the place where their engagement began.

Rain followed us for much of the afternoon, so we wandered through a few of my favourite undercover spots around The Rocks for their portraits. The soft light gave the photographs a completely different feel than we had planned, and I love how they turned out. Just before the reception, the rain eased and we slipped outside for a few quick photographs with the harbour behind them before heading back inside to celebrate.

When I look back on this day, my favourite memory is of Jelena and Jackson completely embracing the moody and rainy weather while having the best time with their family and wedding party.

Since this wedding, the Rocks have become one of my favourite portrait locations - there are so many hidden spots for photos and a lot of undercover space for even a larger wedding party. The old sandstone and the archways have this ability to give images a timeless feel that is also very Sydney.
